March is one of the first good months for a combined holiday. Kashmir enjoys cool temperatures between 5–18°C, while Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur remain pleasantly warm at around 18–30°C. Crowds are generally low to moderate, and the famous Tulip Festival begins towards the end of the month.
April offers Kashmir's peak tulip season with temperatures of 8–22°C. The Golden Triangle becomes noticeably warmer (24–36°C), although sightseeing is still comfortable with early morning starts. This is one of the busiest travel periods.
May remains beautiful in Kashmir, where temperatures range between 12–25°C, but Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur often experience extreme heat of 28–42°C. While Kashmir is at its best, many travellers find the Golden Triangle portion uncomfortably hot.
June, July, and August are excellent for Kashmir's green valleys and pleasant weather (14–28°C), but the Golden Triangle experiences high temperatures, humidity, and the arrival of the monsoon. Sightseeing is still possible but less comfortable than during cooler months.
September marks the transition into autumn with comfortable weather in Kashmir and gradually cooling conditions across North India. Visitor numbers are moderate, making it a good balance between weather and crowds.
October is one of the finest months for a combined itinerary. Kashmir offers crisp autumn colours and temperatures of 5–18°C, while Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur enjoy pleasant weather between 20–32°C, making sightseeing comfortable throughout the journey.
November continues to provide excellent travel conditions. Kashmir becomes colder (0–12°C), while the Golden Triangle enjoys cool, sunny days with temperatures around 15–28°C. It is one of our most recommended months.
December through February offers perhaps the best contrast of experiences—comfortable sightseeing across Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, combined with snow-covered landscapes in Kashmir. If you're hoping to experience snowfall without enduring extreme heat elsewhere, this is the ideal season.
Overall, the best time for an India Golden Triangle & Kashmir holiday is October through February, when the Golden Triangle enjoys pleasant weather and Kashmir is either beautifully cool or covered in snow. April is another excellent option if seeing the Tulip Festival is a priority, although temperatures across the Golden Triangle are considerably warmer.
There are no direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Srinagar, but there are both direct and one-stop services from Kuala Lumpur to Delhi operated by airlines including Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, and IndiGo. Because nearly every combined itinerary naturally begins or ends in Delhi, it serves as the ideal gateway for exploring both the Golden Triangle and Kashmir.
After arriving in Delhi, travel between Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur is usually by private vehicle or train, following the classic Golden Triangle route. Once you've completed this section of the journey, you'll take a domestic flight—typically via Delhi if required—to Srinagar, which takes approximately 1.5 hours.
This domestic flight is usually the only internal flight required, as the Golden Triangle destinations are well connected by excellent highways and rail services, making overland travel convenient and efficient.
Based on our experience, we recommend booking international and domestic flights at least 2–3 months in advance for travel between October and February, when demand is highest. While we don't book flights directly, we're happy to recommend the most practical routing once you share your preferred travel dates and whether you'd like to begin your holiday in Delhi or Srinagar.
Malaysian citizens need an Indian e-Visa to enter Kashmir, applied for entirely online at the official government portal, indianvisaonline.gov.in. Here is the process step by step.

Visit indianvisaonline.gov.in directly. Several lookalike third-party sites charge extra fees for "facilitation" that the government doesn't authorize.
Select the e-Visa Option
Choose the e-Visa (Tourist) category. For most Malaysian leisure travellers, the 30-day e-Tourist visa is the right category, though one-year and five-year multiple-entry options also exist.
Fill in the Application Form
Enter personal details, passport information, and travel dates including arrival and departure ports. Double-check every field, since small errors are the most common cause of delays.
Upload Your Documents
A recent passport-style photo (around 2x2 inches, under 1MB, JPEG, white background) and a scanned copy of your passport's photo page in PDF, under 300KB. Passport must be valid at least 6 months beyond travel dates.
Pay the Visa Fee Online
Fees vary by visa duration and time of year, generally USD 25 to 80, payable by credit or debit card, plus a bank processing charge of around 2.5%. Keep your application ID after payment.
Wait for Approval
Processing typically takes 3 to 5 business days, though it can take longer during busy periods. Apply at least 2 to 3 weeks before your travel dates to leave a safety margin.
Download and Carry Your e-Visa
Once approved, your Electronic Travel Authorization arrives by email. Print it and also save a digital copy on your phone, to present alongside your passport at immigration on arrival.
A few practical notes from experience: the tourist e-Visa generally cannot be extended once you're in India, so if you think you might want extra time, apply for a longer-duration visa upfront rather than trying to extend later. We can provide a hotel confirmation letter to support your application if needed, but we are not a visa agency and won't process the application on your behalf. Always verify current fees and document requirements directly on the official portal before applying, since these details are updated periodically.
The e-Visa covers Kashmir's main tourist circuit, Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonamarg, with no additional permit needed. A few specific areas, however, require an extra layer of paperwork, and this is something we see first-time travellers overlook.
Gurez Valley, and the Ladakh extension areas including Pangong Lake, Nubra Valley, and Turtuk, fall under Protected Area Permit (PAP) or Restricted Area Permit (RAP) rules for foreign nationals, Malaysians included. These permits are issued only through a registered tour operator — individual applications submitted directly by travellers are not accepted. We apply for the permit on your behalf as part of booking, using your passport and visa details. Processing typically takes a few days and we'll confirm permit eligibility before you commit to flights for that leg of the trip, since availability is subject to Indian government regulations that can change with little notice. Don't book independent flights or accommodation for Gurez or Ladakh extensions until we've confirmed your permit is actually approved.
Across the Golden Triangle, 3-star hotels in Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur are clean, comfortable, and centrally located, making them excellent value for most Malaysian travellers. Upgrading to 4-star hotels usually means better restaurants, swimming pools, larger rooms, and, particularly in Jaipur, beautiful heritage-style properties. Leave for Gulmarg by around 8:00 AM if you want manageable Gondola queues. We also recommend booking Gulmarg Gondola tickets and, where relevant, Gatimaan Express train tickets well in advance, as both regularly sell out during popular travel periods.
If your itinerary combines hot Golden Triangle weather with cold Kashmir conditions, pack clothing in layers rather than carrying two completely separate wardrobes. This gives you far more flexibility throughout the journey.
Always agree on prices with pony handlers in Kashmir and camel or elephant ride operators in Jaipur before beginning the activity. Likewise, avoid unsolicited "free" shopping stops offered by unaffiliated drivers, particularly gemstone stores in Jaipur. Return flights between Kuala Lumpur and Delhi generally cost around MYR 700–1,400, while the domestic flight between Delhi or Jaipur and Srinagar usually adds another MYR 250–500 per person.
An Indian e-Visa normally costs between MYR 110 and 350, depending on visa validity, while comprehensive travel insurance is typically MYR 100–250 and is strongly recommended for a trip covering both cities and mountain destinations.

In April 2025, a terrorist attack in Pahalgam tragically claimed the lives of 26 people, most of them tourists. Since then, security across Kashmir's major tourist destinations has been significantly strengthened and visitor numbers have steadily recovered. Around the first anniversary of the incident in April 2026, Malaysian tour leader Mohammad Fadli travelled to Pahalgam with a group of 21 Malaysian visitors and publicly described the destination as "safe and very peaceful." We share this simply as a recent example rather than a guarantee.
The Gulmarg Gondola was temporarily closed between 25 May and 25 June 2026 after a technical fault required replacement of major equipment and comprehensive safety inspections. Operations resumed only after manufacturer certification, and we always verify current operating status before finalising your itinerary.
In Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, normal city travel precautions apply. Keep an eye on personal belongings in busy markets such as Chandni Chowk, use arranged transport rather than unofficial taxis, and agree prices with unofficial guides or activity providers before beginning any service.
Road conditions between Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur are generally very good, although traffic around Delhi can sometimes extend journey times. In Kashmir, road conditions depend largely on weather, and we avoid routes affected by snowfall or landslide warnings whenever necessary.
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering medical treatment and emergency evacuation, particularly for mountain excursions. Before travelling, it's also sensible to review your own government's latest travel advisories for India.
Combined Kashmir and Golden Triangle holidays work particularly well for families. Children usually enjoy the Taj Mahal, Amber Fort, Shikara rides, snowfall, and Gondola experiences, while parents appreciate the variety between historic cities and mountain scenery.
Elderly travellers should be prepared for moderate walking at sites such as Agra Fort, Amber Fort, and the Taj Mahal, together with uneven paths in parts of Kashmir. We can easily slow the itinerary or include additional rest stops where required.
